England Women's U20 Coach Mo Marley says her team performed well to overcome hosts Chile in their opening match at the World Cup.

A 2-0 victory was the perfect start for The Three Lions in front of a noisy 15,000-strong Chilean crowd in Ciquimbo, and the way her team adapted their play to come away with the win delighted Marley.

"We knew exactly how good Chile were and what their style of play would be, and I think that we adapted to that very well.

"It was a tough match for us, but in the end our quality shone through."

With the scores still level at the break, Marley's words in the dressing room help settle the team and goals from Brooke Chaplen and Toni Duggan secured the win.

It was a pleasing result for Marley, who believes it can give England lots of encourgement, both during this tournament and in the future.

"At half-time I told them that this was a big stadium and it was just the kind of game that players in their age-group should be dying to play in.

"My team took that on board and went out and enjoyed themselves. This is a very promising age group for England."

England's next match is back in Coquimbo on Saturday when they meet Nigeria. The match kicks off at 9pm and will be screened live on Eurosport.
